PAC is looking for a Bookkeeper & Early dismissal reminder for Wednesday….

Looking for a way to help the PAC from the comfort and convenience of your home or office? Our PAC Treasurer, Wayne Audette, CPA,CA is looking for an Assistant Treasurer.

What’s involved? The Assistant Treasurer acts primarily as the PAC bookkeeper, using QuickBooks Online accounting software. Because QuickBooks Online is on the cloud, it can be done from any location, on a PC or a Mac. Training will be provided by parent Leila Kauko, who has generously filled the role for several years and has streamlined the job to make it simple and easy. Wayne, the Treasurer, provides backup and support as required.

QuickBooks Online is user friendly, prepares and prints all cheques, about 20 per month, and automatically posts the entries. Bank reconciliations are a breeze. Revenues and reports from the MunchaLunch system is independent and operated by a third party.

The time commitment is approximately 2 to 3 hours per month over the school year. You are not required to attend PAC meetings (but you are always welcome to attend!)

Supplier invoices, cheque requisitions and other documents are kept in a folder at the DL front desk. Once processed, the cheques are returned to the folder for pick up or are mailed.

So, if you have a computer, a printer, Internet access, and some modest experience in bookkeeping, please raise your hand!

Leila will finish up everything for the current school year but she is ready to begin training her successor immediately. Volunteering with the PAC is a great way to give back, learn more about what happens at our school and meet a few parents behind your child’s school! Please email if you have questions or want to help. Thank you!

Don't Forget

Reminder: Wednesday April 27th is early dismissal at 2:00 pm!

Call back Volunteers and its time for Ice Cream !

Help bullhornCall Back Volunteers Needed!

The Call Back committee helps the office staff by listening to messages left on the Absence Line and tracking attendance for each student.  Being part of the Call Back team does not take a large commitment – only one or two days a month and about an hour each time.  The more people who help, the better the team can assist the office staff and teachers.  It is a great way to get to know the students, staff and parents!

If you can volunteer with the Call Back Committee please email our Committee Head Monica at Thank you to Monica and her team for all their hard work!

Walk to School Week is October 5-9

International Walk to School Week (iWalk) is being held worldwide October 5-9. Starting Monday at DL, we encourage students in all grades to get involved and find creative ways to get to school – consider walking, biking, scootering, taking the bus, carpooling or even parking a few blocks away and walking in – your school and your body will thank you!

IWALK_logoWe would also like to encourage the students to get active by holding a friendly classroom to classroom competition. The Golden Scooter (our iWalk Trophy) will be presented to the class which best increases or improves their ability to get to school actively.  Here’s how it works:

  • During iWalk week we will hand out tokens (small paper shapes) to each student who gets to school actively
  • The tokens can be picked up from a volunteer near the entrance to the school and handed in to the volunteer at your class (much like handing in popsicle sticks during KM club)
  • These tokens will be dropped into the container on the iWalk Poster in the students’ classroom

It’s Fun!  Walking, biking, scootering, etc.bring a sense of joy and independence.

Healthier Habits! The trip to school is a chance for students (and adults!) to get some daily physical activity.

Cleaner Environment! Replacing car trips to school with more active ways can reduce congestion and air-polluting emissions.

Community Benefits! Reducing traffic congestion, boosting a sense of community, and improving neighborhood connections benefit the community.

Calling all parents, grandparents and caregivers…. WE NEED YOUR HELP! If you are available to cut out tokens, hand out tokens and/or be in the classroom to mark down how many kids actively get to school each day, please send an email to
Let’s show some DL spirit and let’s get active!
