First things first: Consent for The Card Project – due Sept 30 2020!
Dear Dorothy Lynas PAC Community:
A warm welcome back to all returning families, and an equally warm one to all new families!
Good news: Your child’s class and teacher will soon be getting going with “Art Cards”, a favourite fundraiser that takes our children’s art and turns it into tangible, functional keepsakes starting with: cards! Each child receives a free card showcasing their own art with their name and grade printed on the back. Providing consent only takes a minute! Please go to www.thecardproject.ca to sign up. Then click Consent form. Our school access code is DL69. Deadline: September 30th. Info below.
The Card Project is coming to Dorothy Lynas this Fall!
We need your consent for your child to participate. To comply with Canadian Privacy regulations, you need to give your permission for your child’s name and art to be released to Marcelle Warnes at The Card Project.
Please go to www.thecardproject.ca to sign up Then click consent form.
Our school access code is DL69
The deadline is Wednesday, September 30th, 2020.
Thank you!
Your Dorothy Lynas PAC
Munchalunch Alert
A number of students and parents alike look forward to Fun Food Days or Hot Lunch as it’s been called. Intermediate level students enjoy being part of the Dream Delivery Team…There is also FroYo Friday… And right about now on a Thursday, some of our very own DL parents are making their way to school as the Superstars of one of the PAC’s most popular fundraisers…
Ordering for Spring Term 2020 Open!
Before you go off on Spring Break, think how much you will be looking forward to one less lunch to make a week when it’s over…. or how much your child might like a hot lunch once school is back on…. One-Less-Lunch-To-Make = MUNCHALUNCH at Dorothy Lynas! Please see poster attached, and go to munchalunch.com to place your Spring Term Orders! The first available order date is Thursday April 2, 2020 — which means you need to get your orders in 8 days in advance! So (order) what? Do the deed now, or, find a time during the break to decide, that’s what!
Munchalunch in 2020-2021?
FYI: Things could change significantly next year, if we do not have the volunteers needed to sustain this awesome program. Regardless of whether or not you’re a Munchalunch fan, your family at DL still benefits: the proceeds of the PAC’s largest fundraiser go to a variety of PAC-supported school endeavours, one of which is a Teachers’ Fund to enhance your children’s daily education. So. If you are able to spare a Wednesday morning (9-1030am) for some behind-the-scenes tasks, or Thursday (1130am-130pm) to help in the kitchen with a few other parents and be a positive presence for student volunteers who help to deliver the lunches, PLEASE EMAIL dlpacfunfoodadm@gmail.
If we do not get enough volunteers to step up by this date, we will be forced to reduce the program by 50% from September. That’s right, more lunches to make and possibly less fun at school. Please seriously consider offering your time to this worthy cause, and make some connections.
Leap Day Post! Next PAC Meeting is Tues March 10!
HAPPY FEB 29, EVERYBODY! Hope you are enjoying your Leap Day Weekend 2020!
The PAC Exec and Committee members look forward to your attendance at the next PAC meeting (#4 of 5, for the 2019-2020 year) on Tuesday March 10th, 7-8pm in the MPR. Look for the March Meeting Agenda on the bulletin board at school next week.

Thank you from the Grade 7 Class!
Last Friday night, many of us came together for a very enjoyable Family Movie Night! We thank the fabulous Grade 7 Committee for putting on what has come to be a looked-forward-to annual event, and letting us show our DL Spirit!
Besides us thanking them for the comfortable, convenient and fun time…
On behalf of the Grade 7 Class I’d like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who supported Family Movie Night on Jan 31, 2020. Among others, this event raised funds that will support the Class of 2020’s Legacy Gift, which their fellow students at DL will come to enjoy in future. More on this at the end of the year!
THANK YOU ALL!
January ’20 News cont’d [Family Movie Night! Deadline Extended!]
Monday January 27th, 2020 is the 3rd (of 5) PAC Community Meeting of the year. Come for an hour, 7:00-8:00pm in the MPR. Get your questions answered, offer your ideas and suggestions. Agenda here: PAC Meeting Agenda Jan 2020-1. Come and meet new Committee members and the 2019-2020 Executive Board if you haven’t already!
January ’20 News
Firstly, welcome to all new parents at Dorothy Lynas! It was nice to see some of you at the Welcome 2020 PAC Coffee Morning Jan 10th — despite it being our first day of snow! We thank Bean Around The World @Parkgate for graciously donating refreshments to fuel us on a Friday after a busy week back-to-school.
Cheers to 2020!
Secondly, a rather significant fundraiser is soon upon us: it’s the 2020 Seycove Auction! The name may be confusing – it is indeed a Seymour Family of Schools event, and that includes Dorothy Lynas, Sherwood Park, Cove Cliff, and Seycove Secondary. If you missed the Info Sheet that was sent out by the school administration on Dec 20th, please find it here: 2020 Seycove Auction, Dinner and Dance (If the poster is any indication, this should be a fabulous and fun community event!)
In the same vein, the DL PAC is pleased to extend the invitation to DL’s first Parent Education Session of the 2019-2020 school year coming up on Tuesday January 21st @7pm in the MPR, to neighbouring schools. The speaker, Jesse Miller, will speak on the topic of ‘social media’ and we hope there will be ample time for all your questions! Why not get a sitter and come on out.
Lastly, the January PAC Meeting is scheduled for Monday January 27th, 7pm – 8pm in the MPR. We will share more details by the end of the week. If you can’t make it for Jesse Miller, consider catching up at this, our third PAC Community meeting of the year! Thank you in advance for your participation.
Thanks for reading. Have a great week!
